Our highest priority is to be good stewards of the amazing gifts we have received to advocate for children because of the generosity of our community. CASA for Douglas County completes a full audit every year by an accredited accounting firm.  Our fiscal year runs from July 1-June 30.  CASA also completes and submits a 990 annually.

If you are interested in receiving a copy of the CASA audit or 990, please contact Kimberly Thomas at 402-932-5683 ext. 101.

A Word from Kim Thomas, Executive Director

Dear Friends,

Who said we couldn’t get through a pandemic? If this last year has shown me anything, it is the CASA Volunteers are resilient, tenacious and committed to ensuring Omaha’s children are not lost in a world of paperwork, mind-boggling minutia, or a worldwide crisis. Through front windows, video calls and letters, volunteers kept their eyes on children; just what you would want for your child should they meet this unfortunate fate.

As you will see, 263 CASA Volunteers stepped up to the challenge, during the most difficult of times, and provide life-changing advocacy to over 500 children in foster care. Research shows that a child with a CASA Volunteer is more likely to exit the foster care system 5-8 months sooner than their non-appointed counterparts. 137 children had their cases closed during a worldwide pandemic and I feel relieved knowing we had a part in that process.

As we enter our 24th year, I am excited for the future and the opportunity to provide a CASA Volunteer for every child in foster care. This is especially important as the child welfare system continues to experience significant challenges. I look forward to the day when CASA is not needed, but until then, we will continue our steadfast advocacy. The catch, we need you to help us get there.

Please consider supporting CASA by contributing financially, becoming a CASA Volunteer, and/or spreading the message about our work.

Kim Thomas, Executive Director
