A Safe, Welcoming Space for Families to Reconnect

At CASA for Douglas County, we understand how important family connections are to a child’s emotional well-being and development—especially for those navigating the child welfare system.

The Edward & Sally Malashock Visitation Room offers a safe, welcoming, and family-friendly space where children in the foster care system can spend meaningful time with their biological parents, siblings, extended family members, or CASA Volunteer Advocate.

Located at CASA for Douglas County, the visitation room is available to families throughout Omaha and Douglas County. It plays a vital role in helping maintain relationships, reduce feelings of separation, and support reunification when possible.

What is CASA’s Visitation Room?

The visitation room is designed to feel warm and inviting, far from the sterile environment of an office or courtroom. With comfortable furniture, age-appropriate toys, and engaging activities, it allows children to relax and focus on simply being with their family.

Whether it’s playing a game, reading a book, or just catching up, this space helps to create positive experiences and emotional healing.

  • Reducing Feelings of Abandonment
Regular visits help children feel remembered, supported, and emotionally safe.
  • Supporting Reunification Goals
Supervised, structured visits are a critical step in the journey toward family reunification.
  • Providing a Comfortable Setting
