Beyond the Talk: Raising Sexually Healthy Youth People - Resources & Conversation Tips for Foster Families

This workshop will be an introduction to how parents/caregivers can support the children in their care with healthy sexual development. This interactive workshop will provide tips and resources for age-appropriate conversations on sexual health, bodies and boundaries.

By the end of this Zoom presentation, participants will be able to:
• Increase their knowledge of typical childhood sexual development
• Identify 3 tips for having meaningful conversations on sexual health and being an askable adult
• Identify three resources (websites, books, etc.) for medically-accurate, age-appropriate, inclusive sex education for young people

Participants will receive 1 hour of continuing education credit.

Facilitator:
Lisa Schulze joined the Women’s Fund of Omaha in April 2015 and currently serves in the role of Education and Training Manager with a specialty in the intersection of sexual literacy and sexual violence prevention. Prior to that she was an educator for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland for fifteen years. Ms. Schulze was awarded the National Association of Social Workers – Nebraska Chapter 2016 Public Citizen of the Year award for her work advancing comprehensive sex education. She currently volunteers for Omaha Girls Rock. Lisa holds a Master of Education in Human Sexuality from Widener University and became an AASECT Certified Sexuality Educator in June 2014.
