Spreading Joy and Cheer: CASA for Douglas County's Holiday Party

The spirit of the holiday season came alive on the evening of Friday, December 8th, as CASA for Douglas County hosted its annual Children's Holiday Party. This cherished event brought together our dedicated volunteer advocates and the children we have the privilege of serving, creating magical moments and memories that will last a lifetime.

At the heart of the Children's Holiday Party is the joy of giving. Each year, CASA ensures that every child's wish is fulfilled by providing them with at least one small gift of their choice and a board game. These gifts and the time spent together transform into tangible tokens of happiness, brightening up their holiday season.

Our holiday celebration took place at the Schenzel Community Center, formerly known as Hope Skate. We were overjoyed to see the joy as children and adults alike skated through the evening.

The children showcased their skating skills on the rink. For many, it was a chance to forget their worries and simply enjoy being children, surrounded by a supportive community that cares for their well-being.

"Bottle of ibuprofen 5 dollars.  Roller skating and having fun with the kids at the CASA Holiday Party, priceless!" says Volunteer Advocate John D. "Seeing the kids being kids and having fun at the CASA Holiday Party was such an amazing experience! Thank you, CASA, and thank you KIDS!!"

As always, we’re thankful for your support. Events like the Children's Holiday Party are made possible through the generous support of our community partners. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the companies that have consistently demonstrated their commitment to making this event a success year after year. Your ongoing support ensures that these children experience the joy and warmth of the holidays.

"TIs the season! It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves while skating, laughing, and greeting each other with warm smiles,” says Kimberly C. Barnes, Executive Director at CASA for Douglas County. “These are the moments that confirm there are some great humans in this world!”

As we bid farewell to 2023, we do so with hearts full of gratitude. The Children's Holiday Party served not only as a festive celebration but as a reflection of the strength of our community and the collective commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children impacted by the child welfare system.

CASA for Douglas County remains dedicated to advocating for the well-being of every child we serve. The Children's Holiday Party is a testament to the power of community, compassion, and the belief that every child deserves a holiday season filled with love and joy.

Here's to a season of warmth, togetherness, and the promise of a brighter future for the children we serve. May the spirit of the holidays continue to inspire acts of kindness and generosity throughout the coming year.
